Abstract

A transfer function based on ostracod faunas was used to estimate past water depths of Lake Titicaca during the last 8000 yr BP. The results obtained on three cores revealed a complex evolution of the lacustrine basins. In general terms, the Holocene was characterized by low water levels, especially between ca 8000 and 3900 yr BP.
